Dr. Christy Ayles
Dr. Christy Ayles was raised in rural Alberta and moved to Calgary in 2003. She majored in Biological Sciences at Dalhousie University and the Unviersity of Calgary. Dr. Ayles graduated on the Dean's honours list in 2012. She and her husband, Alex, moved to Revelstoke in August 2014.
While at Dalhousie University, she assisted with a glaucoma research project. In her final year of school, Dr. Ayles spent time interning with a Cataract and Refractive Ophthalmologist in Maryland. She also interned with Optometrists in both New Zealand and Calgary. Dr. Ayles has a passion for volunteering and has participated in an eye care mission trip in Ecuador with VOSH International.
Dr. Ayles is an active member of the Revelstoke Rotary Club. She loves spending time with her husband, Alex, and their children, Carson & Kallie.
Optometrist
Dr. Amy Nordstrom
Dr. Amy Nordstrom graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in Optometry in 2006 with honours. Previously, she obtained her bachelor degree in Biological sciences at the University of Calgary in 2002. She completed her internship working with ophthalmologists at St. Eriks Eye hospital and the world renowned medical university Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden.
She was raised in northern Alberta and has always loved the mountains. She moved to Revelstoke with her husband and their son in 2021. Dr. Nordstrom is an avid skier and enjoys mountain biking.
Optometrist
Kristine Holland
Kristine joined the team at the Revelstoke Optometry Centre in January 2016 and has since been a cornerstone of our operations. With a career in the optical industry that began in 2005, Kristine has continually enhanced her expertise, completing her Optometric Assistant's Course in June 2017 and her Ocular Hygienist training in 2022. In her role as office manager, she ensures that daily operations run seamlessly and she is renowned for her expertise in glasses repairs and her precise fitting of eyewear to each patient’s unique facial features. Her deep knowledge of our product offerings ensures that patients receive the best possible care and guidance.
Outside of work, Kristine serves as the President of the Revelstoke Aquaducks and dedicates significant time to support the club and its mission to serve local youth. She enjoys spending time with her family, camping for swim meets, hanging out with her two dogs, and quilting.
Office Manager, CCOA, Ocular Hygienist
Amie Donato
Amie joined the Revelstoke Optometry Centre team in February 2018 and finished her Optometric Assistant's certification in June 2019. Amie loves helping patients pick new, exciting frames and stays on top of all the new style trends. Amie completed her Ocular Hygienist training in 2022 and enjoys offering the newest treatments for dry eye management and ocular aesthetics.
Amie has previous healthcare experience with over 10 years in the dental industry.
Amie is Vice President of the Revelstoke Aquaducks and together with Kristine ensure that the club continues to be easily accessible and enjoyable for local families. Outside of work, Amie enjoys spending time with her husband and raising their two beautiful children.

Mikayla Mulgrew
Originally from Alberta, Mikayla moved to Vancouver Island in 2008. Following years of travelling and then graduating with a Bachelor’s in Mathematics, she moved to Revelstoke. Mikayla has expanded her expertise with a medical terminology course and is currently studying population health data analysis. In her role with us, she excels in coordinating patient care, cutting lenses into frames in our lab, and designing and maintaining our office website.
When she's not working, Mikayla enjoys mountain biking, running, and many other outdoor activities. She also loves reading and pottery.
Patient Care Coordinator, Optical Lab Technician
Shawn Filipchuk
Shawn has called Revelstoke home since she was 10 years old, originally coming from Pritchard, B.C., and her deep roots in the community shine through in her work at Revelstoke Optometry Centre. Shawn spent 27 years in marketing and social media but her previous experience in nursing fuels her passion for healthcare, ensuring that each patient receives attentive and personalized care before seeing the optometrist.
Outside the office, Shawn’s energy is infectious—whether she’s hitting home runs at the baseball diamond, staying fit while reading on the treadmill at Trans Canada Gym, or exploring her love for cooking and gardening. At home, she enjoys the company of her two daughters and her husband.

Erna Fe Balaoro
Hailing from the beautiful Philippines, Erna’s journey from the province of Leyte to Caloocan and now to Revelstoke reflects her adventurous spirit and dedication. Since relocating to Revelstoke in 2023 with her husband and one of her four children—who will soon join her—Erna has seamlessly integrated into our team. Her impressive 14 years of experience, combining 13 years in hospital administration and 1 year in a corporate office, brings a wealth of knowledge and a calm, positive demeanor to her role at the clinic.
Erna's warm and cheerful personality makes her a beloved presence in the office. Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with her son, going for walks in nature, and unwinding with a good movie.

Natasha Perkins
Originally from Revelstoke, Natasha originally studied cosmetology before discovering a passion for photography and becoming a successful freelance photographer. Her unique blend of skills and experiences now enriches her role at the front desk, where she excels in providing exceptional service with both warmth and professionalism.
Natasha’s joyful demeanor and calming influence create a positive atmosphere for both guests and colleagues alike. Outside of work, she continues to pursue her passion for photography and enjoys quality time with her family.

Tanya Grasley
We are excited to welcome Tanya to our team at the Revelstoke Optometry Centre. Tanya recently relocated to Revelstoke with her husband, who accepted a new job opportunity here, after spending the last 30 years on Vancouver Island and a recent stint in Golden. Her passion for healthcare is evident through her diverse background, which began with studies in holistic health care nutrition and culminated in completing a Healthcare Office Assistant program in 2022.
At the front desk, Tanya brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to her role, enhancing our patient interactions with her dedication and expertise. She is deeply committed to providing exceptional care and service.
Outside of work, Tanya enjoys spending quality time with her family, including her husband and children. She is passionate about preparing delicious, healthy meals, exploring nature, and staying informed with the latest health podcasts.
